PLP Systems will present powder micro-dosing and continuous drum coating technology at Cibus Tec 2026, taking place in Parma, Italy, from 27 to 30 October.
Announced on 12 October, the Italian manufacturer’s exhibition plans focus on ingredient application for crisps, nuts, cereals and extruded snacks. The systems address two production requirements: accurate delivery of small ingredient quantities and consistent coating of products that may be vulnerable to breakage.
Precision in Ingredient Application
PLP will demonstrate its Micro Dosing Powder (MDP) system, designed to dispense powdered micro-ingredients, including spices and flavourings. Repeatable dosing can help processors maintain recipe consistency, particularly when handling small quantities or switching between seasoning blends.
The manufacturer will also highlight its continuous drum coating equipment, which applies ingredients including oils, sugars, chocolate and spices. A corrugated drum profile is designed to move products gently during coating, limiting impacts on fragile snacks.
PLP’s published range includes drum coaters with capacities from 0.1 to 12 tonnes per hour, depending on configuration. The equipment can incorporate product weighing, additive dosing and flow monitoring to adjust ingredient application as throughput changes.
Considerations for Snack Processors
Consistent seasoning is important for product taste, appearance and ingredient management. Uneven coating can complicate quality control, while excessive mechanical handling may produce broken pieces and fines that reduce saleable output.
The approach may suit facilities producing several snack varieties daily. For equipment buyers, considerations include coating characteristics, product fragility, capacity and integration with existing conveying systems. Trials can help establish whether a configuration delivers the required coverage without unacceptable damage or waste.
PLP operates a continuous coating pilot plant in Lugagnano Val d’Arda, Italy, where manufacturers can test their products before investing. The company will exhibit in Hall 3, Stand A015 at Fiere di Parma, allowing processors to discuss applications and potential production-line configurations.
