Ghirardelli Chocolate Company has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of Ghirardelli Crispy Cookies, marking the US manufacturer’s entry into the ready-to-eat packaged biscuit category.

Announced on 7 October 2026, the launch introduces two chocolate-based varieties designed to extend the brand’s presence beyond traditional confectionery and home baking products.

The development gives Ghirardelli an opportunity to reach consumers through everyday snacking occasions, using its established chocolate ingredients in a finished biscuit format.

The new products are being introduced through a phased US retail rollout, with distribution beginning through the company’s own website before expanding into major grocery chains.

Two Chocolate-Based Varieties

The Ghirardelli Crispy Cookies range comprises Classic Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate varieties, each supplied in a 180g package containing ten biscuits.

Classic Chocolate Chip uses Ghirardelli’s semi-sweet chocolate chips as its primary ingredient, combining chocolate with buttery biscuit notes, vanilla and brown sugar. Double Chocolate incorporates dark chocolate chips, cocoa powder and chocolate within the biscuit dough, creating a more chocolate-focused alternative.

Both products have been developed around a crisp texture, positioning them within the established packaged cookie category rather than the softer, bakery-style segment. The range builds on Ghirardelli’s existing experience in chocolate production and baking ingredients, allowing the manufacturer to extend a familiar ingredient brand into a different finished-product category. For retailers, the launch introduces a chocolate-led proposition from a recognised confectionery manufacturer into the competitive biscuit aisle.

Retail Expansion Plans

Ghirardelli has adopted a staged distribution approach for the new range.

Following its initial online launch, the biscuits began rolling out at Kroger on 11 October, with availability at Walmart scheduled to follow from 24 October 2026. Distribution through additional US retailers is planned from January 2027, providing a wider national presence for the products.

The rollout represents a diversification of Ghirardelli’s retail portfolio, extending its presence beyond confectionery, baking chocolate and related products. For grocery buyers, the development highlights how established chocolate manufacturers are using brand recognition and ingredient familiarity to enter adjacent snacking categories.

The decision to introduce both conventional chocolate chip and double chocolate varieties also provides retailers with two familiar flavour profiles, rather than relying on unusual ingredients or limited-edition combinations to establish the range. As the products enter wider distribution, their performance will provide an indication of how successfully an established confectionery brand can translate its identity into packaged biscuits.
