Dot’s adds Chipotle Honey pretzels

The Hershey Company has introduced a limited-edition Dot’s Chipotle Honey Pretzels flavour in the US, combining sweet honey with smoky chipotle seasoning.

Announced on 16 September 2026, the product is rolling out to retailers nationwide during the autumn as part of Dot’s seasonal football programme. The new variety joins the brand’s Original Pretzels and is being positioned primarily around game-day sharing and snacking occasions.

The launch adds another flavour extension to Hershey’s salty snacks portfolio at a time when the group is developing its presence beyond traditional confectionery. Dot’s sits alongside brands including SkinnyPop, Pirate’s Booty and LesserEvil within Hershey’s broader snacks business.

Sweet and smoky flavour

Dot’s Chipotle Honey Pretzels combine honey sweetness with chipotle heat while retaining the seasoned, crunchy pretzel format associated with the core range.

Hershey describes the flavour as sweet, smoky and spicy, with the launch designed to provide consumers with an alternative to the Original variety for sharing occasions. The product will be available for a limited period, with pack sizes and retail pricing varying between individual retailers.

The company is supporting the launch through its “A Winning Season Tastes Like Dot’s” marketing programme, which focuses on American football viewing occasions, tailgating and at-home gatherings. The campaign also includes a partnership with football player Caleb Downs.

While the promotional activity is US-focused, the product development itself is relevant to the wider savoury snacks market because it combines an established base product with a contrasting sweet-and-heat seasoning profile rather than introducing a completely new snack format.

Seasonal launches support range extension

Limited-edition flavours can give snack manufacturers a way to generate additional shelf interest while testing consumer response without permanently expanding a range.

For retailers and buyers, seasonal variants can also provide a point of difference around major consumption occasions, particularly where brands already have strong recognition within sharing formats.

Hershey’s continued investment in salty snacks is also significant from a category perspective. The company now operates across confectionery, salty snacks and protein products, meaning launches such as Dot’s Chipotle Honey form part of a broader effort to compete across multiple snacking occasions rather than relying primarily on chocolate and confectionery.
