Fairfields Farm, the award-winning, family-run crisp maker, has announced a substantial multi‑million‑pound expansion of its production facilities, completed in May. The investment introduces a second industrial fryer alongside a state-of-the-art automated weighing and bagging system, elevating weekly crisp output by a remarkable 40%.
This round of investment builds on last year’s addition of another fryer, which delivered an impressive 90% increase in capacity. Combined, these enhancements significantly boost Fairfields Farm’s ability to meet surging demand across retail, hospitality, and foodservice markets.
The expansion follows a stellar year: Fairfields Farm reported a 38% rise in year‑on‑year sales for the financial year ending July 2024 and is on track to achieve a further 25% growth from July 2024 to July 2025. The past twelve months have seen record potato harvests, operational improvements, new products, and revitalised packaging.
Highlights include:
Product innovation: Launch of the much-anticipated Prawn Cocktail flavour.
Sustainability boost: Full range rebranded in packaging from a carbon-neutral supplier, using 30% less material, reflecting both the company’s rural roots and a clearer nutritional display.
Co‑Founder Robert Strathern commented:
> “This upgrade is about unlocking the next phase of our growth. As we scale, we’re investing in the systems and infrastructure that will allow us to stay agile and deliver more of what our customers want, without compromising on the values that set us apart.”
Commercial Director Tash Jones added:
> “We’ve built strong momentum over the past 12 months – driven by product innovation, sustainable practices, and a brilliant team. With increased capacity and a pipeline of new products and contract wins, we’re now in an excellent position to drive further growth across both existing and new markets.”
The company has also strengthened its leadership team with two recently appointed senior executives and is preparing for the roll-out of exciting new product lines and retail partnerships in 2025. Upcoming releases include:
Chorizo & Red Wine* crisps, launched in May.
Honey Roasted Chestnut & Sage flavour, due this October
With enhanced production capabilities, a growing flavour portfolio, and a commitment to sustainability, Fairfields Farm is asserting its position as a major player in the premium snacking sector.
